Hotel Total Cost Calculator (Taxes & Resort Fees)
Estimate true hotel stay cost including taxes, resort fees, and parking — not just the nightly rate.
What this calculates
Hotels advertise the nightly base rate; you pay 15-30% more after taxes, resort fees, parking, and surcharges. Resort fees ($25-50/night) often aren't waivable for loyalty members and don't earn points. This calculator gives the full all-in cost.
Formula & how it works
Subtotal = nightly_rate × nights. Tax = subtotal × tax_pct. Resort fees = nights × fee_per_night. Parking = nights × parking. Total = subtotal + tax + resort + parking.
Worked example
$220/night × 5 nights = $1,100. 14.5% tax = $159.50. $35 resort × 5 = $175. $30 parking × 5 = $150. Total $1,584 — 44% over advertised rate.
Frequently asked questions
Can I avoid resort fees?
Rare. Some elites at Hyatt/Marriott can get them waived on award stays. Booking direct sometimes (not always) helps. Vegas and Hawaii are worst offenders.
What about taxes abroad?
Many EU/Asian cities add tourist tax (€1-7/night). Check the destination — some hotels include it, some bill separately at check-in.
Booking site total?
Most show 'total including taxes and fees' at final step. Always compare that number, not the headline rate.
