Percentage to Letter Grade Converter
Convert a percentage score (or raw points) to letter grade on standard or custom scales.
What this calculates
Most US schools use a 10-point scale (90+ = A, 80-89 = B, …), but some use 7-point. Many UK and international schools use entirely different bands. This calculator converts a percentage or raw points to a letter and GPA point on standard scales.
Formula & how it works
Standard 10-point: 97+ A+, 93-96 A, 90-92 A−, 87-89 B+, 83-86 B, 80-82 B−, 77-79 C+, 73-76 C, 70-72 C−, 67-69 D+, 65-66 D, <65 F. Raw % = earned ÷ possible × 100.
Worked example
Earned 287 / 320 = 89.7% → B+ on 10-point scale.
Frequently asked questions
Plus/minus or letter only?
Some scales (like the 7-point) skip pluses and minuses. Many US K-12 use letter only; colleges typically use +/−.
Curving?
If a class is curved, the conversion happens after the curve. This calculator works on raw percentages.
GPA points?
A+/A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, etc.
