What this calculates
In the United States, Daylight Saving Time starts on the second Sunday of March (clocks spring forward 1 hour) and ends on the first Sunday of November (clocks fall back 1 hour). Arizona and Hawaii don't observe DST. This calculator shows the next several changes for any year.
Formula & how it works
Spring forward: second Sunday of March, 2 AM → 3 AM. Fall back: first Sunday of November, 2 AM → 1 AM.
Worked example
2026 spring: Sun Mar 8. 2026 fall: Sun Nov 1. 2027 spring: Sun Mar 14.
Frequently asked questions
Why DST?
Originally to save coal/energy in WWI. Modern studies show negligible energy benefit and clear health/safety downsides — many states want to abolish it.
EU DST?
Last Sunday of March (start) and last Sunday of October (end). EU voted to end DST in 2019 but implementation has stalled.
Permanent DST?
Sunshine Protection Act (2022) passed US Senate but stalled in House. As of 2026, twice-yearly clock changes continue in most US states.
